Happy Holidays

Happy holidays, friends! I know I hardly post in this space anymore. No particular reason, really. It's just progressively fallen by the wayside. I'm 6 months out from finishing residency now, in a bit of a calm before the storm a.k.a. Royal College exam. It's a time to tie up research loose ends, figure out what I'll be doing come July, and make the most of the time I have left with the city and people that've grown close to my heart.

I started this month with a whirlwind trip to New York. It was drizzly, but actually very pretty; mist softens the brightness of the city, so there's this ethereal glow juxtaposed with the bustle. I spent an evening walking along Central Park and 5th Avenue, visiting Times Square and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, and wandering through a lovely outdoor market at Columbus Circle.

Rockefeller tree. While I was standing there a guy proposed on the skating rink and like 1000 people clapped.

Tiffany's also had nice lights -- but Bergdorf Goodman was my favourite with its incredible window displays

I found out this week that I didn't get the fellowship in NYC. But that's okay. I always knew it was a long shot and I'm just grateful that it afforded me these opportunities to visit.

I don't really have other plans this month and that's fine by me. I'm just looking forward to a hopefully quiet week of home call, time spent with friends, and a few days off at the beginning of January. However you may be spending it, I hope you all have a nice Christmas and New Year's as well!
